Deadhead Illustration

The Deadhead Illustrations were a personal project I worked on to try to have as much detail on an illustration with a limited color palette.

T-shirt printing only allows six colors for a print due to the capabilities of a machine, so i wanted to see how much detail i could create with six colors or less.

My first illustration, "Kid Cthulu" was created with a limited palette of exactly six colors. I used several half tones to create shading on the print, as well as accentuations to create a unique character.

My second illustration, "Snake Eye" was created with a smaller palette, only using five colors, with half tones being used once again to accent the piece. Both pieces use color and patterns in unique ways, such as the gradient dimples on the tongue, as well as the gradient crosshatching on the snake.
